Senior Care Assistant
Reporting To : Floor Supervisor / Person-in-charge / Deputy Manager
Responsible To : Manager / Deputy Manager/ Floor Supervisor
1. Responsible for:
Daily Living Care Of Residents, Performance monitoring, supervision and guidance of staff.
2. Minimum qualifications:
• CA3 - SVQ Level-III, Certification in contract of medicines.
• CA2 - SVQ Level-II, Certification in contract of medicines will be preferred.
3. General:
The Senior Care Assistant is part of the caring team and as such works with other staff to care
for the residents in the Home. The work can be physically and mentally demanding, and the
person appointed to the post will be expected to have an understanding of and sympathy with,
residents.
4. Care
• To assist in assessment planning and implementation, evaluation and care reviews.
• Supervise carers/care assistants.
• Keep the person in charge on duty informed of Residents’ conditions.
• Report to Person in charge on duty all incidents, accidents, complaints and state of
supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for the council, administration, re-ordering of medicines.
• To liaise with external professional bodies – assist GP’s etc.
• Co – ordinate and plan care delivery.
5. Personnel
• Maintain Good working relationships with professional and non-professional colleagues.
• To maintain confidentiality in respect of Residents, Staff and the home’s business at all
times.
• Act on behalf of residents to ensure the individual’s dignity is maintained at all times. To
ensure residents are respectably and comfortably dressed and that they are appropriately
groomed i.e. hairbrushes, shaved, lipstick and make-up applied where appropriate, etc. To
ensure clothing, chair or bed, table and surrounding floor is clean after meals.
• To help the resident to lead as full a life as possible, to organise activities for the residents,
e.g. handicrafts, games, reading etc.
• To assist with the induction of new staff.
• To assist with in-service training activities.
• To monitor all work delegated to Care Assistant
