General Maintenance & Yard Operative

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment in all external service yards, bin stores and loading areas.

• Empty, sort and manage waste and recycling in line with company procedures.

• Operate the cardboard baler safely and prepare cardboard for collection.

• Sort and dispose of glass bottles and other recyclable materials appropriately.

• Ensure waste and recycling bins are clean, organised and correctly positioned.

• Sweep and maintain outdoor pathways, service areas and surrounding grounds.

• Remove litter and ensure all external areas are kept presentable.

• Assist with moving stock, deliveries and equipment when required.

• Carry out general maintenance support duties as requested by the Maintenance team.

• Report any maintenance issues, hazards or damaged equipment promptly.

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.

• Work across both Villa Rose Hotel and Jackson's Hotel as operational needs require.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Reliable, trustworthy and punctual.

• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

• Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual tasks.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Flexible approach to work and willingness to assist in different areas.

Desirable

• Previous experience in a maintenance, yard, facilities, hotel or general operative role.

• Experience using waste management or recycling equipment.

• Basic maintenance knowledge would be an advantage, although not essential as training will be provided.

• This is an active, outdoor role with regular manual handling.

• The position involves working in varying weather conditions throughout the year.

• The role requires travel between Villa Rose Hotel and Jackson's Hotel, which are located within close proximity.

The General Maintenance & Yard Operative is responsible for working safely at all times, following company policies and procedures, using equipment correctly and reporting any hazards, accidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
