Hours: 35 hours - Monday to Friday (09:00 - 17:00)
Compensation: £30,000 per annum

About the role
This role provides essential support to the Finance team across a range of key financial processes. You will assist with sales invoicing, maintain accurate system data, and support day-to-day finance activities including purchase ledger transactions.
A key part of the role will involve preparing accurate and timely volume and revenue statistics, enabling the business to effectively monitor the Port’s operational and financial performance. You will also help maintain strong financial controls by ensuring compliance with VAT and invoicing requirements, while contributing to the continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will play an important role in ensuring financial information is accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support with the preparation and processing of sales invoices.
Receive, collate and maintain monthly volume statistics to support business reporting.
Analyse monthly accounts for various central services and highlight any discrepancies where required.
Interface sales transactions between satellite systems and the core accounting system, ensuring accuracy of financial data.
Record monthly and quarterly utility meter readings and maintain system meter records to ensure the port network is accurately reflected and tenants can be invoiced correctly.
Maintain up-to-date property records to enable accurate and timely billing of rental invoices.
Support purchase ledger activities and provide general assistance to the Finance team as required.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external customers.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented and enjoys working with data and financial information. You will be comfortable managing multiple tasks, maintaining accurate records and working to deadlines in a busy finance environment. Strong communication skills are important, as the role involves working with colleagues across different departments and occasionally supporting external customers. A proactive approach, willingness to learn and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy will help you succeed in this role.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience working in a finance office (minimum of 2 years preferred)
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Mathematics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word and Access
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Reliable with a strong sense of accountability
