Compensation:  £28,141 per annum

About the role

This role is responsible for the efficient receipt, control and dispatch of cargo for customers operating from 47 Berth. You will ensure all cargo movements are accurately recorded and traceable through the terminal’s stock control systems, including IPOS and TRAX, supporting smooth day-to-day terminal operations and high levels of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a professional point of contact for external customers, delivering a high-quality service and supporting contractual requirements.

  • Use terminal systems including IPOS and TRAX to manage paper products and third-party traffic, including Transfennica Shipping Line cargo and RDF (baled waste) via SCA.

  • Check customs clearance using Destin8 and ensure records are accurately updated in IPOS to enable timely cargo release and delivery.

  • Maintain accurate office administration, documentation and filing in line with company procedures and compliance requirements.

  • Liaise daily with drivers and operational teams to support efficient cargo handling and terminal operations.

  • Review and verify release and clearance documentation to ensure accuracy and provide reliable operational support.

  • Complete tasks within agreed timescales to meet customer service levels and operational deadlines.

  • Monitor and manage daily shunt sheets to support effective planning and cargo movement.

You will have strong attention to detail, be confident using multiple systems, and communicate effectively with a wide range of people including customers, drivers and operational teams. A proactive approach, the ability to prioritise workloads, and a commitment to accuracy and service excellence are essential for success in this role.

 

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle and resolve enquiries professionally.

  • High levels of accuracy and efficiency when working with customer and cargo management systems.

  • Good understanding of shipping and cargo documentation.

  • Full right to work in the UK.

  • Full driving licence, valid in the UK

Desirable

  • Experience using IPOS (or equivalent) for handling paper products and third-party cargo.

  • Experience using TRAX for third-party cargo handling.

  • Competent in using Destin8 for customs clearance processes.
