Hours: Sunday – Thursday 22:00-06:00
Compensation: £39,663 + shift allowance + OTE

About the role
The Tilbury 2 Ro-Ro Terminal is a busy short-sea ferry service that requires a team of hardworking, skilled operatives to manage the loading, unloading, and yard operations of cargo for vessels, trains, and other hauliers. This includes working with Border Force and other Government agencies at the Border Control Post and handling manual and equipment-assisted tasks to ensure efficient operations. Operatives must work in a team, report to Superintendents or Terminal Supervisors, and follow safety regulations.
Key responsibilities:
Loading or discharging cargo from vessels, rail and hauliers
Efficient cargo handling to meet vessel and rail deadlines and achieve vessel, rail, haulier and damage KPI’s
Using the VMT’s to accurately tally cargo and record all cargo movements in the Terminal Operating System
Manual handling duties including cargo outturns
Work with the onsite representatives of the shipping line, Government Agencies, hauliers, ship’s crew and other external third parties.
Adhere to policies and procedures in line with Health & safety and statutory approvals
What we're looking for:
We are looking for individuals who can work efficiently in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, often in challenging weather conditions. The ideal candidate should be able to manage a range of plant equipment, work independently when needed, and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
Qualifications and Skills:
Certification in Forklift, Ro-Ro Tractor, attachments, and Reach Stacker operations
Competency in using IT systems, particularly VMTs
Physically fit to meet medical requirements for HGV drivers
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Self-motivated with good initiative
Ability to handle cargo and equipment carefully to minimise damage
Flexibility with shift work, including night shifts, and overtime
Full UK driving licence
Full right to work in the UK
