Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Technician

Location: Port of Leith

Hours: 37.5hr contract - Monday-Friday 0700-1500 (we are keen to consider alternative working patterns)

Compensation: £36,207 + OTE

Overtime rate: 2x rate on weekends (10pm Friday to 6am Monday) | 1.5x rate midweek

About the role

As our business grows, we are continually recruiting talented professionals to join our team. We’re particularly interested in skilled Electrical Maintenance Technicians to support our Engineering team at the Port of Leith. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the daily operations of a dynamic port environment, working with a variety of machinery and plant equipment. You will develop your skills and advance your career in the port industry and thrive in a role where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, repair and fault finding of electrical systems within the Port; including forklift trucks, ship to shore cranes, industrial plant, lock date infrastructure and commercial vehicles

  • Installation and maintenance of LV electrical distribution systems, lighting systems and control circuits

  • Undertaking training as an Authorised Person for operating and maintaining HV distribution equipment

  • Developing an in depth working knowledge of plant equipment and associated drawings in order to minimise downtime when repairs are required

  • Escalating any equipment damage to Supervisory staff and liaise with operational staff to inform of timescales for repairs

  • Implementing best practice maintenance techniques to improve reliability efficiency

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure equipment is maintained for efficient plant operation.

What we're looking for:

We are looking for skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, industrial environment. You will have a strong technical background with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a solid understanding of electrical systems, including AC/DC control systems, PLCs, and HV/LV. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also a confident communicator, capable of building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team is crucial.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Time served qualified Electrical Maintenance Technician and have previous experience of working within a heavily industrialised environment

  • Strong working knowledge of AC/DC control systems, PLC’s and HV/LV would also be advantageous

  • Confident communicator and be able to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders across the business

  • As our working environment comprises quaysides, warehouses and other Port buildings therefore the ability to work at height, in confined spaces and in an outdoors environment is essential

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Full right to work in the UK
