UK Paper Hub 47 Berth provides a distribution warehouse facility for a number of paper suppliers. The site is 35 acres with the capacity to discharge, store and distribute 700,000 tonnes of cargo per annum as part of a three-shift operation, 6-2/2-10/follow the ship.
We have several new opportunities to join our team at the Port of Tilbury as a Cargo Operative.
About the role
Your key responsibilities will include:
Handling cargo using all appropriate methods for discharge/loading in an operational environment
Housekeeping duties and basic maintenance
Manually handle cargo when required to meet customer requirements
Inspect and grade damaged paper products and ensure cargo refurbishment (reeled and palletised paper products)
Meet customers KPI’S within the time frame required and without causing any damage to the cargo entrusted to care of the Company
Undertake training to gain the relevant certification and knowledge/skills appropriate to the job
Upholding the highest standards of safety and adherence to operating policies and procedures
What are we looking for?
Experience of working in ports and with plant machinery is preferred, but not essential
Basic Forklift licence is desirable, but training will be provided if necessary
Candidates who are happy to work as part of a team and eager to make a positive impact to the overall port operations
Full UK driving licence
