About the role

We are pleased to be recruiting for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join our busy Payroll team, based at the Port of Grangemouth. 

This is a varied role, which will see you supporting with the provision of an efficient and effective payroll service for a range of payrolls administered across the Forth Ports Group. Some of your  tasks will include ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, maintaining payroll records, and responding promptly to employee payroll enquiries.

Other key duties are:

  • Processing all payroll information to ensure net pay, tax, pension and NI is calculated accurately in accordance with HMRC guidelines.

  • Prompt and accurate processing of rates of pay, tax codes, leavers, new starts and transfers on our iTrent payroll system.

  • Reconciliation of monthly reports and balance sheet items.

  • Preparation and issue of monthly reports for our wider Finance team.

  • Processing P11D employee benefits.

  • Assisting with user testing and system upgrades to our payroll system.

What are we looking for?

  • Excellent numeracy, accuracy and IT skills, particularly excel and MS office suite.

  • Sound working knowledge of payroll systems and procedures.

  • Good awareness of PAYE rules including HMRC reporting (RTI).

  • Ability to work effectively within a small team to ensure set payroll deadlines are met.  

  • Previous experience working with iTrent Payroll/HR system would also be advantageous.
