Salary:                                 £40,574 + attractive OTE

Overtime rate:                  2x rate on weekends (10pm Friday - 6am Monday)

                                               1.5x rate midweek

About the role

Based at the Port of Grangemouth this is a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our busy Engineering team to play an integral role in our day to day engineering operations whilst advancing their career within the industry.  This role will involve you working with a wide range of machinery and plant equipment across the Port, where no two days will be the same.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company and statutory procedures.  Our equipment includes lock gates, ship to shore cranes, straddle carriers and a variety of other port plant and equipment.

  • Undertaking detailed job planning and recording for all engineering maintenance and repair activities.

  • Fault diagnosis and problem-solving to ensure that all equipment is in good working order for use as required.

  • Implementing best practice maintenance techniques to improve reliability efficiency.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure equipment is maintained for efficient plant operation.

Your basic hours will be 37.5 per week working a partial shift system involving day and rotational shifts as part of a shift roster. A shift allowance will be paid for this in addition to your basic salary.

You should also have a flexible approach to your working hours as regular overtime and participation in an on-call arrangement is part of this role.

What we're looking for:

  • You will be a time served qualified Mechanical Fitter and have previous experience of working within a heavily industrialised environment.

  • Sound working knowledge of mechanical equipment ideally with experience of working with diesel engines, rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, auto lubrication systems or electro/hydraulic disc brakes.

  • You will be a confident communicator and be able to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders.

  • As our working environment comprises quaysides, warehouses, and other Port buildings the ability to work at height, in confined spaces and in an outdoors environment is essential.

  • Full UK driving licence.
