The Port of Tilbury London Police is seeking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced transferee or re-joiner Constable to Police London’s major Port. No two days are ever the same, policing a unique environment with its own challenges. We love being able to provide the best service possible to the port, its tenants and customers and being able to adapt to a variety of different incidents.

Successful candidates will have to be physically fit, pass a medical and will be subject to a vetting process required for police officers.

A full driving license is essential for this position.

Salary in line with national Police pay scales, negotiable dependent on service and experience + Pension Scheme

About the role

Duties will include:

• Effective patrolling of the Port estate in vehicles and on foot.

• Responding to emergency incidents within the Port and on board vessels.

• Engaging in community policing, by building trust within the Port Community.

• To add value to the port through enhancing tenant satisfaction, by offering crime prevention advice and tackling long term policing issues.

• Undertaking the searching of persons, vehicles and premises to locate evidence and the recording of circumstances.

• Interviewing persons suspected of criminal offences.

• Attending scenes of accidents, administering enhanced first aid when necessary,

• Being proficient in the use of technical equipment, including radios, speed detection devices and Police computer systems.

• Dealing with victims of crime in a professional and compassionate manner.

• Showing excellent communication skills both written and oral.

• To be able to work effectively within a small team environment.

• Undertake the vast range of duties encompassed within the role of constable.
