Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Manager

We are currently recruiting a HSEQ Manager to join our team based in Swatragh but with overall responsibility for our operations throughout the UK & Ireland.

As the HSEQ manager within BP McKeefry you will be working within a highly dynamic business and will be responsible for ensuring that the Health, Safety and environmental requirements of our staff and operations are met as well as enabling the business to deliver a high-quality and service for our customers. You will work proactively with directors, managers, and staff to maintain and further improve programmes established for the management of Health and Safety throughout the Company.

Personnel Specification

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Certificate (Essential)

  • NEBOSH Diploma or similar (e.g., NVQ level 5 qualification) (Desirable)

  • Relevant third level qualification (Desirable)

  • Member of IOSH, IEMA or similar (Desirable)

Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety role (Essential)

  • Experience of developing, implementing, and managing externally certified HSEQ management systems (Essential)

  • Experience in developing and delivering HSEQ training (Desirable)

  • Experience in assisting with development of risk assessments (Desirable)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of current HS&E legislation (Essential)

  • Ability to investigate to determine root causes and develop appropriate actions (Essential)

  • Ability to manage actions through to completion (Essential)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (Essential)

  • Planning and Organising.  The ability to decide on courses of action, ensuring that the resources required to implement the action will be available and scheduling the programme of work required to achieve a defined end-result. 

  • Self-Management.  An ability to manage and organise oneself to take responsibility, be personally responsible and achieve results. To manage personal stress and work levels in order to maintain overall performance under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the Company.

  • Develop and improve health and safety management systems.

  • Manage delivery of a structured programme of internal audits.

  • Be the main contact within the Company for HSEQ-related external audits.

  • Verify compliance with health and safety legislation and incorporate any updates into the health and safety management system.

  • Provide support to directors and managers, helping them to improve health and safety performance.

  • Implement, support, and monitor the effectiveness of the company’s internal policies and systems in relation to quality and environmental management.

  • Ensure quality & environmental objectives are in line with the strategic vision and goals of the business.

  • Keep up to date with applicable legislation, verify compliance, and communicate requirements within the Company as required.

  • Develop and implement training programmes for relevant employees.

  • Analyse audit findings, incident investigations, etc. to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement throughout the Company.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Must be legally entitled to work in the UK
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior Health & Safety role.
  • Experience of developing, implementing, and managing externally certified HSEQ management systems.
