Cook - The Courtyard Cafe - Lisburn
Stepping Stones NI are looking for a Cook to join our team at The Courtyard Cafe in Lisburn.
This role is about more than cooking and preparing great food and delivering excellent customer service - it’s also an opportunity to work alongside adults with a learning disability, supporting them in a safe, positive, and inclusive workplace.

The successful candidate will also be required to occasionally deputise for the Cafe Manager in their absence

About the role
Responsibilities include:
Preparing and cooking high quality food
Maintaining excellent standards of food safety and hygiene
Playing a key role in supporting and mentoring team members with learning disabilities, helping them build skills, confidence and independence in a catering environment.

What you will need
Required criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Catering and Hospitality or equivalent e.g. City and Guilds
- Essential Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
- At least 2 years experience as a cook in a busy catering environment
- Sound knowledge of Health and safety Procedures including COSHH and HACCP
- Excellent IT Skills
- Display an understanding of the barriers facing people with a learning disability
- A can-do attitude and positive approach to work and ability to work in a team
- Ability to work on own initiative
Desired criteria
- Intermediate food Hygiene Certificate or willing to work towards same
- Experience of working with adults with a Learning Disability
