HVAC Service & Commissioning Engineer I Moira I £35,000 - £45,000

BACKGROUND
Fairhaven are an established supplier of ventilation and air movement products to the construction and industrial sectors. We pride ourselves on providing high levels of technical advice and product support to consultants, contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle. In business for more than 30 years, we have recently enjoyed rapid growth in sales of more complex solutions such as packaged air handling units and natural ventilation systems. To help us support this growth, we wish to recruit an enthusiastic and capable HVAC Service & Commissioning Engineer.
JOB OUTLINE
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the focus of the role will be to provide on-site technical support for the HVAC products we supply. This will mainly involve working on construction sites to commission and service ventilation units and associated controls, but will also involve ancillary tasks such as equipment surveys, fault finding, etc.
Product specific training will be provided, but the ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of HVAC controls and possess relevant electrical qualifications along with experience in a relevant field. A qualification in in electrical or electronic engineering would be advantageous.
The position will be primarily field based, working out of our Moira office. Daily travel, primarily to sites within Northern Ireland, will be required. Travel to sites in ROI will also be necessary, although on a less frequent basis, and occasionally this will require overnight stays away from home. Infrequent trips (typically fewer than 6 per year) to mainland GB may be required for both training and servicing activities.
A company van and all necessary tools & equipment will be provided.
About the role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre & post-sales technical support for 3rd party installers to help ensure “right first time” installation.
On-site commissioning of HVAC controls, including (but not limited) to the following tasks:
Final terminations of electrical controls wiring
Configuration of controls software, firmware updates, etc
Liaising with 3rd party controls specialists
Visual inspections of equipment
Airflow measurement
Testing and sign-off
On-site fault finding and troubleshooting
Maintenance and servicing tasks:
Filter changes
Performance checks
Component replacement
Responding to technical enquiries via phone and email
Writing servicing and commissioning reports
Maintaining internal job/project records and technical documentation libraries

What you will need

- Higher-level educated in an electrical engineering subject OR NVQ level 3 with 3+ years experience in a relevant role.
- Excellent “hands-on” practical skills
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Valid Driving Licence (max 3 penalty points)
- Willingness to work away from home if needed (infrequently)
Desired criteria
- Experience of installation, fault finding, and commissioning of electrical equipment, including familiarity with 3-phase electrics, industrial drives and HVAC controls.
- IET 18th edition qualified
- In-depth knowledge of ventilation systems and BMS controls (inc BACnet & Modbus)
- CSR card holder with SSSTS or equivalent supervisors safety qualification
