Salary: £28,000 per annum

About the role

The Youth Mentor will work closely with the Youth Service Manager to shape an effective service for the participants, and will work towards the highest standard of service for young people with learning disabilities and learning difficulties, providing an intervention that will help them prepare effectively for their future, taking into consideration the challenges they face today.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent (Level 2 Essential Skills)
  • Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Level 3 and above
  • Minimum of one year experience working with young people, aged 16-24 in a youth work setting/education setting
  • Planning and delivering quality driven learning experiences
  • Understanding of the issues/barriers related to employment and difficulty/disability
  • Display evidence of the values and attitudes required to work with young people and adults with a learning disability/difficulty
  • Computer literacy including Zoom, Teams, other training platforms, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email packages and social media
  • Can communicate clearly and with confidence both orally and in writing, including reporting and presentations
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be flexible
  • Self motivated and self starter with the ability to use own initiative
  • Current Full UK driving licence

Desired criteria

  • Teaching or training qualification
  • Display evidence of working with stakeholders, colleges, community groups
  • Worked within community and voluntary sector
