About MCS Safety Systems Ltd: MCS Safety Systems are an independent safety at height and access specialist offering impartial height safety solutions for a variety of clients across all sectors.

We specialise in the installation and testing of fall protection systems nationwide, such as roof safety anchors and horizontal lifelines, experience in this field would be beneficial

We also specialise in high access gutter cleaning and reactive roof and building maintenance for housing associations, most of this work is on tenement buildings throughout the central belt of Scotland using means of access such as Steel Scaffolding, Aluminium Towers, MEWPS and fall protection systems, experience in this field would be beneficial.

A good knowledge of roof work such as tiled roofs, slate roofs, metal sheet, felt, sarnafil, gutters facias would be an advantage.

About the role

As an Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in:

  • Planning and Scheduling: Organising and scheduling jobs as the come in each day working in tandem with our roofing teams and installers.

  • Health and safety: Working with the safety manager to develop Risk assessments and Method statements (RAMS)

  • Project Oversight: Oversee project execution, assessing each individual project to decide the best access solutions maintaining high standards of quality control.

  • Budget Management: Keep projects within budget, working closely with director to meet financial targets.

  • Customer Engagement: Experience in dealing with housing officers and managers, collaboration with other planners.

  • Working with office admin and billers: working with the office manager to help produce quotes and invoices

  • Key Holder: Opening the yard in the morning and providing roofing teams with their work for the day

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Partner with the Safety manager and director to oversee project management and success.

  • Build strong working relationships with customers, contractors, and key supply chain members, ensuring open communication throughout projects.

  • Monitor project progress and take necessary actions to keep on track.

  • Record and report delays or disruptions, offering solutions to mitigate impacts and communicate costs to commercial departments.

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Set and uphold high personal safety and environmental standards, applying company procedures robustly.    Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, conducting monthly reviews with the site team.

  • Plan resources and allocate appropriately to projects.

  • Attend pre-start meetings with clients and to discuss project-specific issues.

  • Experience: Good experience in reactive maintenance for social housing would be preferable. Experience in the roofing and fall protection industry.

  • Qualifications: Health and Safety qualification would be beneficial

  • Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with housing officers planners and roofing teams

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient use of computer systems, software portals, and invoicing systems such as XERO.
