Admin Assistant
Boys’ Brigade is one of the largest uniformed organisations in Northern Ireland. Volunteer leaders work with over 11,500 children and young people every week. The skilled and experienced staff team at Newport is responsible for managing the charity and providing training, programme, compliance and administration support to ensure that leaders are equipped to run their BB Companies.
The Role
Based at The Boys’ Brigade NI District Headquarters, the Admin Assistant will report to the Engagement Assistant / Finance Officer.
Full Time | Fixed Term 24 month contract | Hillsborough
About the role
Based at The Boys’ Brigade NI District Headquarters, the Admin Assistant will report to the Engagement Assistant / Finance Officer.
This role involves a variety of duties which will include general admin tasks, answering telephone calls, responding to queries, greeting visitors, setting up meeting rooms, researching information for presentations and meetings, and assisting with projects and events.
Hours of work
35 hours per week distributed Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Occasional evening work may be required.

What you will need
Required criteria
- A minimum of 5 GCSE qualifications at grade ‘C’ or above (or equivalent) to include Maths and English
- Good communication skills – both verbal and written
- Ability to demonstrate competence using MS packages in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to demonstrate an aptitude for learning new procedures and IT packages
- Good command of written English to enable proof reading duties
- Good organisational skills and ability to plan own work to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and approach
- Accuracy in work and high attention to detail
- Sympathetic to the vision, mission and values of The Boys’ Brigade.
- Effective team player and able to work on your own initiative
Desired criteria
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar environment
