Housekeeper (Care Home)
Housekeeper (Care Home)
Keep things clean. Keep things running. Help make our home feel like home.
At Westgate Healthcare, a great Housekeeper does much more than keep things clean. You’ll help create a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment where our residents feel proud to call their care home their home.
We’re looking for a Housekeeper who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in high standards and is happy to get stuck in alongside the team. As well as working on the floor, you’ll take on some day-to-day management responsibilities, helping to organise the housekeeping team and make sure everything runs smoothly.
If you’re organised, practical and have an eye for detail — and you enjoy supporting and motivating others — we’d love to hear from you!
About this role
37.5 hours per week | 8:00am–4:00pm
Shifts across Monday–Sunday
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll spend part of your time working alongside the housekeeping team and part of your time coordinating, checking and supporting the smooth running of the service.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out hands-on cleaning and housekeeping duties, including communal areas, corridors, lounges and residents’ rooms, always respecting residents’ privacy and dignity.
Supporting, leading and motivating the Domestic and Laundry Team to maintain consistently high standards.
Helping to organise and manage cleaning schedules in line with health and safety requirements.
Carrying out regular inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
Completing relevant audits, including COSHH, Laundry and Infection Control audits.
Ensuring cleaning practices meet infection control and COSHH requirements.
Overseeing and supporting laundry operations to ensure residents’ clothing and household linen are handled appropriately.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering cleaning and housekeeping supplies when required.
Ensuring cleaning equipment is used correctly, maintained and stored safely.
Supporting the training and development of new and existing team members.
Supporting general household duties that help create a clean, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents.
Working closely with colleagues across the home to make sure the environment consistently meets the high standards our residents deserve.
This role could be perfect for you if...
You’re someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.
You’ll need to be organised and confident enough to take responsibility for day-to-day housekeeping tasks, while also being approachable and supportive when working with colleagues.
Most importantly, you’ll understand that the little things matter — a spotless room, fresh laundry, a welcoming lounge and a clean, comfortable environment can make a huge difference to someone’s day.
