About the role

We're looking for a Lifeguard to join our friendly leisure team at Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa on a fixed-term contract.

As a Lifeguard, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests using our swimming pool and leisure facilities. You'll maintain constant vigilance, enforce pool rules, and respond quickly and confidently to emergency situations.

Alongside your safety responsibilities, you'll help maintain a clean, welcoming and enjoyable environment for our guests, ensuring everyone has a fantastic experience at Cheddar Woods.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the swimming pool and leisure area to ensure the safety of all guests at all times

• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and provide first aid when required

• Enforce pool rules and promote safe behaviour within the facility

• Carry out regular water quality checks and accurately record readings as required

• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the poolside and surrounding leisure areas

• Set up and close down the pool and leisure facilities in line with company procedures

• Provide friendly, helpful and professional assistance to guests using the facilities

• Work collaboratively with the wider leisure and resort teams to ensure smooth daily operations

• Follow all health and safety, safeguarding and company procedures consistently

• Contribute to creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all guests

What we're looking for

• A valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent

• A strong awareness of health and safety at all times

• The ability to remain calm, confident and focused in emergency situations

• A responsible and safety-conscious approach to work

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• A friendly and approachable attitude when dealing with guests

• Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic

• The ability to work effectively as part of a busy leisure team

• Previous experience in a leisure, hospitality or customer-facing environment is desirable but not essential
