Buyer
Support production and organisational objectives by managing the procurement of materials, components, and services. Work closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and high‑quality purchasing aligned with build schedules and departmental KPIs.
About this role
Raise, amend, and monitor purchase orders; maintain accurate ERP/PO data.
Expedite open and shortage orders to avoid production delays; plan orders to align with build schedules and JIT requirements.
Work with suppliers to reduce lead times, costs, and improve delivery/quality performance.
Monitor vendor quality and maintain up‑to‑date supplier information.
Arrange transportation and track deliveries to ensure timely arrival; resolve delivery or invoicing discrepancies with stores and finance.
Interpret engineering drawings and bills of material (BOMs) when required.
Discuss and resolve issues with defective or unacceptable materials.
Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and support cost‑saving and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties that support purchasing and production needs.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Minimum 2+ years purchasing experience in manufacturing or engineering.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret BOMs and engineering drawings.
- Detail oriented, proactive, and adaptable to changing production or supply conditions.
