Essential Requirements
To be successful in this Complex Care Support Worker role, you will need:
A minimum of 12 months' experience in a Complex Care Support Worker role
Experience providing tracheostomy care and airway support
Experience with chest management and respiratory support
Experience supporting individuals with epilepsy and seizure management
Experience with gastrostomy/enteral feeding and medication administration
Experience supporting individuals who are nil by mouth
Experience with complex moving and handling
Confidence supporting individuals with significant physical disabilities and mobility needs
Confidence using digital care planning systems and maintaining accurate care records
Excellent communication skills with a calm, resilient and professional approach
A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Eligibility to work in the UK
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)
Current First Aid training
Experience supporting individuals with cerebral palsy
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
Experience supporting non-verbal individuals with complex communication needs
About this role
Your Responsibilities as a Complex Care Support Worker
Your key responsibilities will include:
Providing consistent, person-centred support within the individual's home and community
Providing tracheostomy care and airway support in accordance with the individual's care plan and your assessed competencies
Supporting with chest management and respiratory care
Monitoring the individual's respiratory presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
Supporting with epilepsy and seizure management, including following individual seizure protocols
Providing gastrostomy/enteral feeding, hydration and medication support in line with your training and assessed competencies
Supporting an individual who is nil by mouth
Supporting with personal care and all aspects of daily living
Providing full moving and handling support as part of a 2:1 care team
Supporting safe use of specialist mobility and postural equipment, including a wheelchair and P-Pod chair
Recognising changes in the individual's presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
Maintaining accurate digital care notes and records
Working closely with nurses, families, carers and other healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and safe care
Promoting the individual's dignity, comfort, choice and quality of life at all times
About the Individual You Will Support
You will be supporting an individual with significant neurological, respiratory and physical needs who requires consistent and attentive support.
The individual has severe cerebral palsy, significant developmental delay and complex respiratory needs, including a tracheostomy and ongoing chest management. They also require support with epilepsy management, gastrostomy feeding and medication administration and are nil by mouth.
The individual is non-verbal, uses a wheelchair/P-Pod chair and requires full moving and handling support on a 2:1 basis.
You will work as part of an established care team, following individualised care plans and clinical guidance to provide safe, consistent and person-centred support.
