Spa Therapist (Weekends)

Job Purpose:

 

The Thai Spa Therapist is responsible for conducting treatments to the highest standards and developing training and guidelines. Other responsibilities include maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and cleanliness within the treatment rooms and spa, taking a pro-active approach to selling products and treatments in The Thai Spa.

 

Operational Responsibilities:

1.      To be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the entire Spa area in particular the treatments rooms, changing rooms, toilets, pool area, showers and light and deep relaxation areas.   These areas should be kept in a neat, tidy and hygienic manner in accordance with approved standards and health and safety standards.

2.      To welcome guests/clients into the Spa area, putting them at ease and providing them with a high level of personal attention.  Where necessary, taking guest shoes, guiding to changing rooms, provision of robes etc as well as pointing out the location of different areas of the Spa and explaining the facilities.

3.      To carry out all Thai treatments on guests / clients as requested and ensuring their experience of Thai massage / Thai Treatments are comfortable and relaxing.

4.      When with a client/guest, to explain fully the procedure/treatment being undertaken prior to doing so and to establish in advance of commencing the treatment:

a.       Guest’s comfort level, (temperature, lighting and pressure)

b.      Any history of medical complaints, injuries, allergies etc. that you should be aware of prior to commencing treatment. (discussion of pre treatment questionnaire.)

5.      Throughout duration of treatment, to check with guest to ensure that he/she is comfortable throughout the experience.

  1. To cover receptionist duties as required ie. Break times, quiet periods in the Thai Spa.

7.      To ensure that lockers are stocked with clean linen at all times and remove soiled linen from changing rooms and relaxation areas.

8.      To attend to guests in both the light and deep relaxation and waiting areas ensuring that they are comfortable at all times e.g. offer drinks/refreshments, reading material etc.

9.      To maintain the stock at the correct level following approved standards and notify the manager of any items to be ordered.

10.  To use the correct quantities of products and adhere to the directions as specified by the manufacturer when using products and with minimal wastage.

11.  To attend Company meetings and training courses as deemed necessary by the Spa Manager.

12.  To ensure that you keep up to date with changing products, treatments, services and facilities offered within the Spa environment in order to help the hotel retain its place as a market leader.

13.  To be fully familiar and competent in using all equipment in the Spa area.

About this role

General Responsibilities

1.      To arrive for work on time and dressed to correct standard of uniform, grooming and personal hygiene.

2.      To provide the guests at all times with the highest level of guest care and personal attention and where possible to anticipate guest needs and initiate actions.

3.      To be flexible at work as well as being courteous to your colleagues/guests and lending helping hand willingly to ensure a high level of staff moral and team awareness between departments, leading by example and demonstrating a friendly, flexible and supporting disposition at all times.

4.      To comply with your responsibilities as defined in the Health & Safety Statement ensuring that you take all reasonable care to ensure the safety of anyone in the area who may be affected by your actions or omissions. 

5.      To be aware of safety in the workplace, ensuring that your actions do not cause accident or injury to anyone. To be fully aware of any health and safety implications in relation to using equipment or to treatments and ensure that guests are informed of same. To monitor guest using any equipment/facilities and if unsafe, to take preventative action immediately.

6.      To be fully familiar with and know how to use the break glass points, fire equipment and the fire exit routes in your department.  To be fully familiar with and respond to your departmental evacuation procedures.

7.      To comply with any other legislation that may affect your work practices and procedures.

8.      To have a high level of product knowledge and treatment knowledge and to promote and be fully aware of any promotions on offer at any given time within the spa.

9.      To have a high level of product knowledge ensuring you are familiar with the hotel’s  services/facilities offered, opening and closing times, rates/prices etc.

10.  To proactively upsell all aspects of the hotel’s facilities and services in a positive and knowledgeable manner and to recognize the importance of up selling.

  1. To be fully familiar with, and actively implement Lough Erne Resort’s service standards and general principles.

  2. To be fully familiar with the ethos and standards required by 5 star resort hotels, NITB and AA standards to ensure that we meet this level.

  3. To take on additional projects / tasks with a view to improving the product, facilities and services offered by the Castle.

  4. To be familiar with and comply with your legal responsibilities in relation to :

                                                              i.      Fire Legislation

                                                             ii.      Health & Safety Legislation

                                                           iii.      Fair Employment Practice

                                                           iv.      Financial Procedures

                                                             v.      Security

  1. To monitor health & safety in the Spa area, ensuring that equipment is maintained in good working order and that safe procedures are implemented and adhered to.

  2. To read and understand and adhere to your responsibilities and house rules as outlined in as outlined within the Employee  Handbook, Health & Safety Statement and all other Company Policy documents, ensuring that all your team comply with these requirements.

  3. To carry out any other reasonable request made by Senior Management.
