Kintullagh is a beautiful, purpose-built care home in Ballymena, providing 24 hour professional, person-centred care for older people.
Our home comfortably caters for up to 61 people and we remain very proud of the safe, wonderfully relaxing, home-from-home environment we created.
The professional care and nursing team at Kintullagh are kind and friendly in their nature, and highly-trained and experienced too, ensuring the highest levels of person-centred care. We are available, around the clock, to support the needs and wishes of all our residents, with the utmost dignity and respect. We care through listening and by following bespoke care plans, to ensure residents’ optimal health and wellbeing.
All of our private, light and spacious bedrooms are fully-furnished and with the benefit of en-suite bathroom facilities. Residents are very welcome to bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space with their own familiar items to make it their home.
Kintullagh also has excellent amenities, all fully designed to cater for residents, including a café, comfortable lounges and dining spaces, in which we enable residents to maintain their independence.
About the role:
This role is for Day Shift. You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.
About this role
Main Responsibilities
Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A good standard of oral and written English.
- A non-judgemental approach to others.
- Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
- Respectful to not only residents but the values and beliefs of other team members.
Desired criteria
- Educated to QCF/ NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
- Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
