We are actively recruiting a Support Worker (Nightshift )to provide additional support within our well-established Mental Health unit, the Galway Suite. The successful candidate will use their compassion and clinical experience to help deliver exceptional levels of resident care to individuals who have a variety of mental health conditions.
This role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the mental health field while working in a supportive and dynamic team.
This is a female-only position, working 33 hours per week on night shifts.
About this role
Professional Responsibilities:
Experience working within a mental health environment.
Assisting residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating and mobility.
Good working knowledge of The Mental Health Order (1986).
An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
Ability to collaborate with a challenging resident group positively.
Ensuring care plans are comprehensive and understandable by the resident.
Supporting, encouraging, and prompting residents with their medication.
Accurately maintain documentation both manually and electronically.
Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, providing a safe environment.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
Assisting residents with booking and attending appointments.
Support residents in daily tasks: self-care, shopping, and household tasks.
Promoting residents to develop their skills and increase their independence.

What you will need
Required criteria
- An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
- Awareness of the local services available to those with mental health needs.
- Understanding of types of mental health illnesses and the level of care residents will require.
- Caring, empathetic and compassionate nature.
Desired criteria
- Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience working within a Care Home setting or environment.
