Youth Based Residential Special Care Worker for Special Care Setting

We specialise in supporting young people within Tusla Mainstream Services, High Support, and Special Care, as well as Disability Residential Care and Day Services. We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated **Youth-Based Residential Special Care Workers** to join our team in Dublin. This vital role will primarily be based at our **Crannog Nua (Portrane)** and **Ballydowd (Palmerstown, Dublin 20)** locations.

As a Youth-Based Residential Special Care Worker, you will:

  • Champion the rights and foster the responsibilities of young people, ensuring their voice is heard and respected within our services.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of individualised Care and Placement Plans, tailored to each young person's unique needs.
  • Support the holistic well-being of young people, nurturing their physical, emotional, social, educational, and spiritual development.
  • Collaborate effectively with family members and multidisciplinary professionals, building strong partnerships to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Uphold the highest standards of care by diligently adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation and reports, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
  • Engage in regular supervision sessions, contributing to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

About this role

Qualifications:

A degree level 7+ on the National Framework of Qualifications in one of the following disciplines:

  • Social care or Applied Social Studies

  • Youth and Community

  • BA(Hons) Youth and Community Development

  • BA (Hons) Psychology

  • Addiction Studies

  • BA (Hons) counselling and Addiction Studies

  • Disability Diploma (Primary Degree)

  • Social Science

 

Candidates must have:

  • A commitment to a minimum of 2 shifts per week, ideally 3

  • Client focus, compassion and empathy are essential to the role

  • Team work as well as flexibility and the ability to work off one’s own initiative

  • Eligibility to register as a Social Care Worker with CORU 

  • Valid work permissions


What we can offer you:

  • Time & a half on Saturdays

  • Double time on Sundays & Bank Holidays

  • Available shift patterns: days (8am – 9pm, 10am – 11pm) & nights (8:30pm – 8:30am)

  • Full lines available or option to work individual shifts (minimum commitment of 2 shifts per week)

  • Paid Induction

  • Training provided & training hours paid for the following:

    • TCI (therapeutic crisis intervention)

    • Crisis Management Training

    • First Aid

    • Special Care model of care

MCMA Special Care salary scale

In line with HSE scale (post graduate exp.)
