Payroll/Finance Administrator
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Administrator to join our Finance team.
This role is primarily focused on the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services, accounting for approximately 50% of the position. The remaining time will be dedicated to supporting the Finance Manager with key finance administration and reporting activities.
The successful candidate will have previous payroll experience, a strong understanding of payroll legislation, and excellent attention to detail. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a collaborative finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration (Approx. 50%)
· Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and within agreed deadlines.
· Collect, review and validate timesheets, overtime submissions and payroll data.
· Calculate salaries, overtime, statutory payments, deductions and payroll adjustments.
· Administer PAYE in accordance with HMRC regulations.
· Submit payroll information through Real Time Information (RTI).
· Process new starters, leavers, salary amendments and employee record updates.
· Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records.
· Administer workplace pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and contributions.
· Support payroll year-end processes, including P60s and payroll reconciliations.
· Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
· Monitor changes in payroll legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.

Finance Support (Approx. 50%)
Provide administrative and transactional support to the Finance Manager .
Support bank reconciliations and other routine Finance reconciliations.
Assist with month-end activities and reporting requirements.
Support credit control processes and account monitoring.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
Assist with audit preparation and compliance activities.
Undertake other finance administration duties as required by the Finance Manager.
Person Specification
Essential
Experience in a payroll function.
Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and HMRC requirements.
Experience using payroll/accounting software such as Sage Payroll, Xero Payroll or similar.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent numerical and data accuracy skills.
Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
CIPP or AAT qualification.
Knowledge of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment.
Experience using Xero or other similar accounting software.
Previous experience supporting a Finance Manager or Finance department.
