Overview of the role
The Maintenance Operative team are responsible for ensuring that our Nursing Homes are maintained to the highest standards. This is a dual role split between Sugarloaf and Dunlavin nursing homes.The primary role of each MO is to carry out general maintenance duties as required. Reactive maintenance to fabric finishes on a daily basis as well as carrying out checks and inspections in the facility will form the backbone of the role. These checks will include daily,weekly and monthly audit checks on fire alarm systems, emergency lights and general fabric of the building and keeping records of same.

General Responsibilities.
Act as an onsite contact for all visiting Contractors. This is a dual role split between Sugarloaf and Dunlavin nursing homes.
Conduct daily, weekly and monthly audit checks on fire systems, emergency lighting and general fabric of the building.
Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on maintenance procedures and maintenance records of scheduled maintenance procedures
Perform small scale repairs to the buildings, fixtures and equipment to maintain high standards.
Complete painting works for the home on a self-prepared list of areas.
Monitor electrical, plumbing and utility needs and advise in-house technical team members if a repair is needed.
Ensure maintenance issues are resolved and/or escalated where necessary.
Maintain records of maintenance procedures
Provide support where needed for event set up such as annual BBQ and garden parties etc.
Obtain estimates from suppliers for repair parts and order parts as needed if and when required.
Participate in mandatory training for fire safety, manual handling and other training as required.
Ensure external grounds, boiler rooms and other service rooms are kept clean, uncluttered and free from unauthorised storage, with checks to be carried out on a daily basis.
Complete checks of the outside areas to ensure walkways are clean and clear of rubbish and weeds and that the all external elements are clean and presentable at all times.
Ensure landscaping requirements are addressed in a hands-on manner with equipment provided.
Keep maintenance storerooms clean and organised, keep off site storage clean and tidy.
Keep supplies / critical spare parts stocked and maintain an inventory for same.
Respond to emergency maintenance callouts if required, including out of hours if necessary.

Requirements
Experience as a Maintenance Operative or a suitable construction background is essential.
Experience of working in a healthcare environment is preferable but not essential.
Qualification in Maintenance or equivalent would be an advantage,
Competent in the use of hand tools and power tools.
A valid driving license is essential.
