About this role
We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance Operations (FinOps) to lead and modernise the organisation’s end-to-end finance operations function, overseeing high-volume transactional finance activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll operations, and related finance processes.
This role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, process optimisation, automation, and AI-enabled efficiencies across finance operations while ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, accuracy, and service delivery standards.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in maximising the value of NetSuite, improving finance workflows, enhancing reporting visibility, and building a scalable shared services-style finance operations model suitable for a growing healthcare organisation.
Responsibilities:
Finance Operations Leadership:
Lead the day-to-day operations of transactional finance functions including:
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Payroll Operations
Transaction Processing
Build a high-performing, service-oriented Finance Operations function with clear KPIs, SLAs, and accountability.
Develop and implement a scalable operating model to support organisational growth.
Partner closely with FP&A, Commercial Finance, HR, Procurement, and Home Managers.
Process Optimisation & Transformation:
Review and redesign finance operational processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and control.
Identify opportunities for standardisation, simplification, and automation across finance workflows.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence methodologies.
Reduce manual intervention and duplicate processing activities through workflow redesign.
Automation & AI Enablement:
Identify and implement AI-enabled solutions for high-volume, low-risk, repetitive finance activities.
Drive automation initiatives including:
Invoice processing
Reconciliations
Exception management
Cash allocation
Payroll validation
Reporting workflows
Evaluate emerging finance technologies and recommend practical solutions aligned with business needs.
Finance Systems & NetSuite Optimisation:
Act as the finance operations lead for NetSuite process optimisation and user adoption.
Collaborate with IT and external partners to improve:
System workflows
Integrations
Reporting capability
Controls automation
Data quality
Ensure finance systems support operational efficiency and robust governance.
Controls, Governance & Compliance:
Maintain strong financial controls and operational governance across all transactional activities.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, payroll legislation, and regulatory standards.
Support internal and external audit activities.
Develop operational risk frameworks and escalation procedures.
Team Leadership & Capability Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop finance operations teams and team leaders.
Build a culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, customer service, and innovation.
Support workforce planning and efficient resource allocation.
Develop capability within the team around automation, systems usage, and process ownership.
Performance Management & Reporting:
Establish and monitor operational KPIs and service metrics including:
Invoice turnaround time
Payment accuracy
Payroll accuracy
Payment accuracy
Payroll accuracy
Query resolution
Productivity measures
Deliver regular operational reporting and insights to senior leadership.
Use data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
Essential Experience
Significant experience leading high-volume finance operations or shared services functions.
Proven experience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll operations, or finance transaction processing teams.
Strong track record of process optimisation, automation, and operational transformation.
Experience implementing or optimising ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
Experience driving efficiency improvements within growing or multi-site organisations.
Demonstrated success leading teams through change and transformation initiatives.

Preferred Experience
Experience within healthcare, care homes, hospitality, or other multi-site service environments.
Exposure to shared services or centralised finance operations models.
Experience with workflow automation, RPA, OCR, or AI-enabled finance technologies.
Knowledge of payroll systems such as Sage Payroll.
Qualifications
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline desirable.

- Proven experience in finance operations management.

- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
- Demonstrable experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Hold a relevant professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
