We are looking for a reliable and practical Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly team at Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa, part of Darwin Escapes.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and has a passion for problem-solving. As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring our accommodation, facilities and resort grounds remain safe, functional and beautifully presented, helping to create an exceptional experience for our guests.
This is a varied and active role, ideal for someone who is proactive, adaptable and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 40 hours per week on a five-day rolling rota across seven days. Shifts will include a mixture of morning and afternoon shifts,.

About this role
As a Maintenance Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day upkeep of the resort, ensuring accommodation, facilities and equipment are maintained to the high standards our guests expect.
General Maintenance
Carry out general maintenance and repair work across accommodation, buildings and resort facilities.
Respond to planned and reactive maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
Complete routine inspections of buildings, equipment and park infrastructure.
Carry out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating and general DIY repairs.
Assist with preventative maintenance programmes to minimise future repairs.
Support the upkeep of guest facilities, amenities and communal areas.
Resort Upkeep
Ensure accommodation and facilities remain safe, functional and well presented.
Report any major maintenance issues requiring specialist attention.
Operate company vehicles, tools and maintenance equipment safely and responsibly.
Assist with general grounds maintenance where required.
Support other departments where appropriate to help deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Health & Safety
Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
Complete maintenance records and paperwork accurately.
Maintain a safe working environment for guests, colleagues and contractors.
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with guests and colleagues.
What you will need
Required criteria
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom
- A full, valid UK driving licence, as you'll be required to drive company vehicles around the resort
- Availability to work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) on a five-day rolling rota across seven days, including morning and afternoon shifts.
Desired criteria
- Experience in a maintenance role, particularly within a hospitality or resort environment.
- Practical skills in various maintenance areas (e.g., basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
