Quality Support Manager

The Role

The Quality Support Manager is a senior clinical leadership and quality governance role, responsible for driving high standards of care, strengthening regulatory compliance and promoting continuous improvement across Healthcare Ireland Homes.  The role will support operationalising Healthcare Ireland’s values of Quality, Innovation, Compassion and Respect by supporting Home Managers to deliver safe, effective and high-quality services while strengthening regulatory compliance.

The Quality Support Manager will work closely with Home Managers, Regional Managers, Directorate and the Governance Team to support homes on their improvement journey, in line with agreed Service Improvement Plans. Working in partnership with Home Managers, they will support continuous improvement across all areas of operational and clinical governance, role model best practice and ensure identified areas for service development are translated into meaningful action, measurable progress and sustained improvement.

The Quality Support Manager will provide governance oversight of each home’s service improvement journey, supporting learning and development of staff teams, monitoring the implementation of Service Improvement Plans and quality assuring changes to systems, process and practice.  They will be responsible for assessing and monitoring progress, providing assurance and escalating concerns in a timely manner.

The post holder will provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to care home teams, building relationships at pace to develop the confidence and commitment required to support teams on an improvement journey. They will undertake assessment and analysis of the care home’s performance, provide evidence-based constructive feedback, respectfully challenge and navigate resistance to change in a positive and engaging manner.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Registered Nurse with strong leadership capability, sound regulatory expertise and a clear commitment to continuous improvement, staff development and quality assurance.

Reporting to the Group Governance, Learning and Development Manager the post holder will be required to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be flexible and adaptable and be able to work co-operatively and collaboratively.   They will have a clear understanding of high quality, safe and effective care and the ability to effectively assess and analysis services against HCI and regulatory standards. 

About this role

Quality, Governance & Regulatory Assurance

  • Provide clinical governance leadership to ensure high standards of quality, safety, compliance and resident care.

  • Monitor care against organisational policies and regulatory standards, identifying and supporting service improvements.

  • Support inspections, audits, safeguarding activity and regulatory reviews.

  • Embed governance frameworks, policies and best practice across Homes.

Leadership & Service Stability

  • Promote a culture focused on resident wellbeing, safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Provide Home Manager cover during absence, vacancy or transition, maintaining operational and regulatory oversight.

  • Support Homes experiencing quality, staffing or performance challenges.

  • Mentor and support new Home Managers through induction and transition.

Learning & Clinical Excellence

  • Support training, competency assessment and professional development programmes.

  • Coach and mentor managers and staff to promote consistent standards, reflective practice and regulatory compliance.

  • Identify learning needs and encourage continuous improvement across teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse Home performance, identify risks and support timely improvement actions.

  • Lead and support quality improvement and transformation projects aligned with organisational priorities.

  • Promote innovation and evidence-based practice to improve outcomes.

Performance & Collaboration

  • Support Home Managers to strengthen auditing, governance and reporting processes.

  • Prepare and present governance reports and performance updates.

  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote consistent quality across Healthcare Ireland Homes.

General

  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as reasonably required by the Directors.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Right to work in the UK
  • A Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • A minimum of three years’ experience care home manager’s or leadership role within social care
  • A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care
  • Understanding of the key business activities associated with a care home
  • Ability to demonstrate conceptual, analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability in a key, demanding role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Hold full driving licence and access to transport

Desired criteria

  • A good understanding of budgets is desirable
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a regional position.
  • Experience in supporting home leadership teams in quality and personal development
