Care Trainer

Make a Difference with Westgate Healthcare! #CareWithUsAtWestgate

Westgate Healthcare is an award-winning care provider with nine luxury care homes across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and London. Employing around 750 colleagues, we continue to grow and invest in our people, with exciting developments planned for the future.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Care Trainer to join our Head Office team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys developing others, maintaining high standards of care, and making a positive impact on the lives of older people.

Working across our homes, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving care standards through competency assessments, refresher training and mandatory updates, ensuring our teams continue to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care.

This is a regional role, so regular travel between our homes is essential. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.

The hours being offered are flexible, with a minimum commitment of 2 days per week and the opportunity to work up to 5 days per week. Typical working hours are 8:00am–4:00pm, although flexibility can be offered to accommodate both individual and business needs.

About this role

Reporting to the Learning & Development team, you will support the ongoing development and competence of our care teams by:

  • Delivering mandatory refresher and update training across all care homes.

  • Conducting non-clinical competency assessments for care staff, identifying development needs and supporting improvement plans.

  • Supporting Home Managers and Deputy Managers with competency sign-off and the ongoing development of their teams.

  • Delivering targeted training in response to audits, incidents, trends and identified learning needs.

  • Providing practical coaching and support to reinforce best practice and build confidence and competence.

  • Maintaining accurate training records, competency assessments and associated documentation in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Keeping training content up to date with current legislation, best practice and sector developments.

  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of training materials, resources and competency frameworks.

  • Attending meetings and contributing to quality improvement initiatives across the group.

  • Acting as a positive role model, promoting Westgate Healthcare's values and commitment to delivering outstanding person-centred care.

    Why Join Westgate Healthcare?

At Westgate Healthcare, we value our people and are committed to supporting their wellbeing, development and career progression. Our benefits include:

    • Employee recognition programmes and regular team social events.

    • Ongoing training, development and support to achieve further qualifications.

    • Access to financial and wellbeing support through The Care Workers Charity.

    • Comprehensive induction and ongoing learning opportunities.

If you're an experienced trainer looking for a flexible, rewarding role where you can genuinely influence care quality and support the development of care professionals, we'd love to hear from you.
