Ashdale Care Ireland, a leading provider of high-quality residential care for young people, is seeking a passionate Learning & Development Trainer to join their team. This is a pivotal role focused on delivering exceptional training, fostering workforce development, and promoting continuous professional learning across the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a central part in developing the knowledge, skills, and competencies of staff who provide specialist, trauma-informed care to young people with complex needs. You will be responsible for the entire training lifecycle, from design and delivery to facilitation and evaluation. This includes mandatory, specialist, and developmental programmes that are crucial for compliance and best practice.
This role offers a unique opportunity to provide specialist expertise in supporting children and young people with intellectual disabilities, neurodiversity, and complex needs. You will work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure all training is evidence-based, compliant with regulatory requirements, and reflective of best practice in therapeutic care, ultimately contributing to excellent outcomes for the children and young people we support.
About this role
As a Learning & Development Trainer, your days will be dynamic and impactful. You'll facilitate a variety of engaging training sessions—from induction for new hires to specialist topics like Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and trauma-informed care—using face-to-face, practical, and blended learning methods. A key part of your role will be designing innovative learning resources and ensuring all training content is current, relevant, and evidence-based.

You will collaborate closely with managers to analyse training needs and contribute to the strategic development of our workforce. What you will need
Required criteria
- Third-level qualification (Level 7 or above) in Social Care, Social Work, Intellectual Disability Nursing, Psychology, Education & Training, Health & Social Care or a related discipline.
- QQI Level 6 Training Delivery & Evaluation (or equivalent Train the Trainer qualification).
- Minimum 3 years' experience within social care, disability services, or residential childcare settings.
- Demonstrable experience supporting young people with intellectual disabilities.
- Experience delivering and facilitating training programmes.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to care.
- Experience developing learning materials and training resources.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of IT proficiency.
- A full clean driving licence and access to personal transport.
Desired criteria
- Experience working within children's residential care services.
- Experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Knowledge of CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
- Experience supporting services regulated by Tusla and/or HIQA.
- Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Qualification or specialist training in Autism, Intellectual Disability, or Behaviour Support.
