About the Role
Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) is seeking an Electrically biased Field Services Engineer to join the SMD Field Services (SFS) team. This role is crucial in providing hands-on technical support and operational advice for our full product range. You will work at both customer locations worldwide and in our workshops, ensuring the successful pre-shipment and post-shipment operation of our equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Pre-Shipment Phase:
Supporting production processes
Assisting in commissioning activities
Conducting Factory Acceptance Testing
Product Post-Shipment Phase:
Installation and commissioning at customer sites
Mobilisation and sea trials
Final Acceptance Testing
Providing operational support and technical advice
Additionally, you will be expected to attend medical assessments, maintain necessary certifications and qualifications, participate in training at SMD, and engage in pre- and post-deployment meetings.
About this role
What We’re Looking For
Experience working offshore and in a factory environment.
Familiarity with SMD equipment or similar machinery.
Willingness to travel globally, sometimes at short notice and for extended periods.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
A commitment to safety and high-quality customer service.
Ability to work well as part of a team with a flexible, adaptable approach.
Strong customer-facing skills and ability to lead SMD FS teams during system mobilisation and operations.
Understanding of the importance of submitting accurate daily reports and fault reports.

- Capability to achieve and maintain all relevant offshore safety, survival and medical certification
- Formal Technical qualification in Electrical or multidisciplinary engineering
