About this role

As a Senior Nurse, you will look after the physical, psychological and social needs of the individuals within our care, delivering the high-quality care they deserve. You will create and supportive environment for our residents who may have a range of physical and mental needs. You will rely on your professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions and can expect a wide range of clinical responsibilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Promote person-centred care, ensuring residents and their families are actively involved in care planning, reviews and decision-making.

  • Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, taking responsibility in their absence, including safeguarding, complaints management and maintaining high standards of care.

  • Support and guide the nursing team in developing, reviewing and evaluating personalised care plans, risk assessments and clinical documentation, ensuring reviews are completed at least every four weeks or sooner if residents' needs change.

  • Lead by example to promote teamwork, effective communication and high-quality, collaborative care with colleagues and external healthcare professionals.

  • Monitor clinical standards through audits, identify areas for improvement, support governance processes and work with the Manager to implement action plans.

  • Identify training and competency needs, support staff development, and monitor leadership within the nursing team, raising concerns where appropriate.

  • Complete additional duties as required to support the safe and effective operation of the home.

Other Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.

  • Carry out clinical assessments, pre-admission assessments and respond promptly to changes in residents' health and wellbeing.

  • Oversee medicines management, pressure ulcer prevention and management, and ensure compliance with professional standards, policies and procedures.

  • Support clinical governance through audits, supervision, appraisals and competency assessments, working with the Manager to drive continuous improvement.

  • Ensure nursing duties are completed safely, effectively and in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Required criteria

  • Current registration with the NMC and ongoing compliance with the NMC Code, including revalidation requirements
  • Demonstrable commitment to delivering safe, person-centred care while maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity and respect
  • Ability to work within your scope of practice, taking responsibility for your own professional development and maintaining clinical competence
  • Experience supporting, supervising and developing nursing and care teams, promoting safe practice and identifying learning needs
  • Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills, with a commitment to treating residents, families and colleagues with dignity and respect
