Heavy Equipment Operator
Reports to - The Heavy Equipment Operator will report to the Solid Waste Operations Manager.
The successful candidate will work in our materials recovery facility will work with a team that will be responsible for the segregation & loading of incoming & out-going waste material.
About this role
What the job involves:
Segregation of incoming waste material using a materials handler equipped with a sorting grab into stockpiles.
Loading of walking floor trailers for out-going waste with a materials handler.
Loading of trucks and trailers for out-going waste with loading shovel.
Shunting of trailers on site.
Loading of sorting lines for segregation of waste material with a materials handler.
Supervision and operation of sorting lines on a daily basis.
Regular washing of yard and general housekeeping.
Accurate recording and safe unloading of third-party customer loads.
Adhere to regular maintenance schedule of all machinery in the MRF.
Understand the job system and with the ability to work with a team.
Experience Required
3 plus years’ experience in the waste & recycling or construction industry.
Good time management and ability to work under your own initiative is required.
Must be able to work with & as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment to meet deadlines without compromising safety & productivity.
Work closely with the site supervisor and management.
Have good time management skills and be able to show initiative.
Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to succeed in this fast-paced role.
Have a full clean driving license. C and C1 licence a plus but not essential.
Hold valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling Certificates.
Valid CSCS Card (360 Excavator) ticket essential, other construction tickets would be an advantage.
Comfortable working with varying equipment types from 5.0T to 25T.

- 3 plus years’ experience in the waste & recycling or construction industry.

- Hold valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling Certificates.
- Valid CSCS Card (360 Excavator) ticket essential, other construction tickets would be an advantage.
