Head of Marketing & Communications - Full time

Ireland Materials invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Head of Marketing & Communications, reporting to the Head of Business Development & Integration, Ireland Materials. This role is responsible for setting and delivering the business-wide marketing and communications strategy for the Ireland Materials CRH business.

It will also provide strategic direction and operational oversight across brand management, marketing, digital marketing, e-commerce, internal communications, and external communications within Roadstone and Northstone.

About this role

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned to business objectives.

  • Advise the Senior Management Team on brand positioning, reputation management, market opportunities, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Drive customer-centric thinking across the business.

  • Lead long-term planning for digital transformation and e-commerce growth.

  • Ensure consistent brand governance across all channels, markets, and business units

 

Marketing & Brand Strategy

  • Oversee the company’s brand architecture, value proposition, and positioning.

  • Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns to support revenue growth and market share expansion.

  • Oversee product marketing, market research, segmentation, and competitive analysis.

  • Establish KPIs (Key performance indicators) to measure marketing performance and ROI.

  • Ensure alignment between marketing strategy and commercial/sales objectives.

 

Digital Marketing & Transformation

  • Oversee the digital marketing strategy including SEO, SEM, social media, paid media, content marketing, marketing automation, and analytics.

  • Drive digital innovation and data-led decision-making.

  • Lead website strategy, UX/UI direction, and digital performance optimization.

 

E-Commerce Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the e-commerce strategy to drive online revenue growth.

  • Oversee platform performance, customer journey optimisation, and conversion rate improvement.

  • Monitor and improve customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and digital sales performance.

 

External Communications & Corporate Affairs

  • Develop and oversee corporate communications strategy, ensuring a strong and consistent public profile.

  • Lead media relations, public relations, crisis communications, and reputation management.

  • Manage relationships with agencies, media partners, and key external stakeholders.

  • Ensure alignment between brand messaging and corporate narrative.

 

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement

  • Oversee the development and implementation an internal communications strategy that drives employee engagement and cultural alignment.

  • Support leadership communications, change management initiatives, and transformation programs.

  • Champion employer branding and employee value proposition (EVP) initiatives.

 

Leadership & Governance

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary marketing and communications team.

  • Manage departmental budgets effectively, ensuring strong return on investment.

  • Establish governance frameworks, processes, and policies for brand and communications.

  • Foster collaboration across departments including Commercial, IT, HR, Finance, and Operations and Technical.

  • Drive diversity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the function.

 

The following knowledge, skills and competencies are required for this role:

Experience

  • Degree qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business or other similar related field (Masters qualification is desirable)

  • Significant senior management experience in marketing and communications within a large organisation.

  • Proven experience leading digital transformation and e-commerce growth strategies.

  • Strong track record of delivering measurable commercial results through integrated marketing strategies.

  • Experience managing corporate reputation and crisis communications.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen.

  • Exceptional leadership and influencing skills at executive and board level.

  • Deep expertise in digital marketing technologies and analytics.

  • Full clean drivers license
