About the role

Key Responsibilities will be: •Building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients. •Proactively developing new business. •To organise and respond to every aspect of the event from enquiry to departure. •To negotiate rates and confirm meeting and event business into the hotel. •To ensure the professional execution of quotations, follow up, confirmations, and cancellations. •Encourage repeat business through excellent customer service and enquiry handling. •To manage and motivate staff through effective communication, training and development, in accordance with company policies and relevant employment legislation, ensuring HR procedures are followed. •To ensure all staff within the Conference and Events department receive the appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with company standards. •Ensure a good understanding of budgets and targets across the core conference and events business within the hotel. •To determine and agree annual budgets, putting in place appropriate mechanisms relating to the profitable performance of the conference and events function. These plans must be agreed, communicated, implemented and reviewed. •To be fully aware of market developments and other factors that would influence our conference and events business. •Identify key competitors and carry out regular competitor analysis, monitoring their performance rates and sales activity. •Each month review the next 6 months availability to highlight high or low demand dates and undertake sales activity to secure new business for these periods. •To contribute to the development of the hotel business plan, projects and initiatives. •To ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that formal and informal feedback is used to ensure continual improvement. •To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments, suppliers and enforcement agencies. •To assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of conference and event sales staff. •To ensure the Hotels’ compliance with all matters relating to the licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation. •Any other duties that may be required by management. The Conference and Events Sales Manager position is full-time with a competitive salary on offer.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Previous Events/Sales management experience, gained within the hotel or travel and tourism industry.
  • A third level qualification with grades A-C in English and Maths at GCSE level or the equivalent.
  • Excellent IT skills.
