Risk and Compliance Manager
This role is a full-time (based on 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday), Permanent, Hybrid working available after probationary period.
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 (dependent on experience)
The role may require occasional travel to different office locations.
The Risk & Compliance Manager will be required to acquire a thorough knowledge of the Credit Unions’ principles, controls, and ethics.
Please note the successful candidate will be subject to an Access NI check and may require approval by Regulators under the requirements of the Accountability Regime.

Working closely with colleagues, the successful candidate will oversee the maintenance of the Credit Union’s Risk and Compliance Framework across all locations. As Risk and Compliance Manager, you will also be responsible for the management of and ensuring full compliance with all legislative, regulatory and policy and procedural requirements. This role also requires the successful candidate to undertake the role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer (SMF17) and Data Protection Representative for the Credit Union. You will be responsible for the line management of one individual.
Reporting to the Board of Directors of Ballymena Causeway Credit Union, the Risk and Compliance Manager will be responsible for the overall risk management framework, including Risk Management platform, risk registers, risk appetite statement and related Policies and Procedures.

What you will need
Required criteria
- Minimum third level qualification in either Law, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Financial Services, or related areas
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Law, Risk, Compliance, Finance or Audit gained within the last 3 years.
- Confident and effective at advising and briefing at all levels, including senior stakeholders
- Training delivery experience
- Proven effective time management skills.
- Ability to challenge behaviour and processes
- A good eye for detail
- Commercial and organisational awareness
- Experience of dealing with complex problems
Desired criteria
- Other relevant third level qualification
- Experience of working in a Financial Services environment
- Have a knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment governing credit unions
- Experience of line management
- Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing Credit Unions
- Knowledge of the risks facing Credit Unions
- Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering Legislation & Regulations applicable to financial institutions
