Role Overview

As Maintenance Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the effective operation of the hotel’s maintenance function. You will lead by example, ensuring all facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and presentation. By managing daily departmental operations, prioritising workloads, and supporting your team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests and colleagues.

This role requires a friendly, professional, and solutions-focused leader who can balance hands-on technical expertise with strong organisational and people-management skills. You will drive compliance, oversee preventative maintenance programmes, and proactively safeguard revenue through effective planning and problem-solving — all while reflecting the values of care, quality, and operational excellence.

About the role

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the upkeep of external areas, including the loading bay and car park, ensuring presentation, safety, and compliance standards are consistently maintained.

  • Lead and support the maintenance team, fostering collaboration across departments to deliver exceptional service standards for guests and colleagues.

  • Ensure accurate compliance documentation is completed and maintained, meeting all legal and regulatory obligations.

  • Manage the PMS reactive maintenance schedule, prioritising and delegating tasks effectively to safeguard revenue and operational standards.

  • Maintain responsibility for security and risk management, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and property always.

  • Control departmental procurement needs by monitoring supplies and referring requirements for authorisation in line with company policy.

  • Provide leadership continuity by deputising for senior engineering/maintenance leadership when required, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations.

  • Ensure strict adherence to health & safety legislation, including Fire and COSHH regulations, and maintain accurate inspection and compliance records.

  • Adapt and respond to operational needs, undertaking additional responsibilities as delegated by senior management.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Proven experience in facilities, engineering, or maintenance management within a hospitality, commercial, or similar environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation, including Fire Safety, COSHH, and risk management procedures.
  • Understanding of compliance standards, statutory inspections, and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a maintenance team, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining accurate compliance, inspection, and safety records.
  • Commitment to delivering high service standards for both colleagues and guests.
  • Right to work and live in the UK.
  • IT proficiency, particularly in facilities management systems, MS Office, or equivalent software.

Desired criteria

  • Recognised technical/trade qualification (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general engineering).
  • Fire Marshal, First Aid at Work, or similar safety-related training.
  • Formal training in facilities or maintenance management.
  • Previous experience in a hospitality, hotel, or leisure environment.
