What is the job?
As Assistant Housekeeping Manager – you’ll make sure our rooms and suites are always ‘fresh and welcoming’ for our guests after a busy day at work – creating a haven for them to escape and relax in - or get a bit of last minute work done. You will be responsible for leading, training and supervising housekeepers in the hotel’s effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

About the role
Your day to day
People
Deputise in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager
Assisting in managing the efficient operation of housekeeping
Perform housekeeper duties as needed
Lead, train and supervise housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms and public areas meet required standards
Maintain inter-departmental relationships to ensure seamless guest services
Actively participate in training and development programs and maximise opportunities for self-development
To assist the Housekeeping Manager in the development of the reception team and actively coach on hospitality skills, department procedures etc.
Guest Experience
Check public areas, guest rooms/suites, equipment, linens are clean and in good repair advise team members of areas of improvement
Perform housekeeping duties necessary, including making beds as well as vacuuming and cleaning guest suites to ensure guest satisfaction
Handle complaints and special requests to achieve complete guest satisfaction
Collaborate closely with the front desk and maintenance teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Comply with special needs and requests of the guests, VIPs and repeat visitors
Responsible Business
Demonstrate awareness of health and safety policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within guidelines
Familiarise yourself with the company values and model desired behaviours
Act as Duty Manager when required
Financial
Communicate objectives, budgets and results to the team, ensuring objectives are set and targets are met
Oversee stock control of all cleaning products, chemicals, and laundry
In conjunction with the Housekeeping Manager interpret the department's budget

What you will need
Required criteria
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a housekeeping supervisory role
- A good administrative and customer service background with the ability to demonstrate skills in both
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise, multitask
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work on own initiative
- Excellent IT competency
Desired criteria
- 1 year experience in an Assistant Housekeeping Manager role
- Experience in a branded hotel
