Leisure Centre Manager

Main function:

The Leisure Centre Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Leisure Centre ensuring exceptional customer service and quality standards, as well as the continuous improvement of membership satisfaction and revenue at all times.  The post holder will be required to build excellent interpersonal relationships with a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders.  The Leisure Centre Manager will coordinate and organise the Leisure Centre team to provide a safe and hygienic service, with a focus on quality and customer service.  

This role will require close collaboration with all management and staff to ensure that the highest standard of cleanliness and customer service is achieved at all times.

About the role

Main duties and responsibilities 

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Leisure Centre to ensure that the required standard of customer service is provided at all times. 
  • Take responsibility for the general appearance of the Leisure Centre to include; reception area, corridors, store rooms, public areas and changing areas.  
  • Ensure adequate level of towels/supplies and cleaning materials are available to meet critical business needs by maintaining and auditing inventory and placing orders where necessary.
  • Monitor occupancy forecasts and membership attendance trends to ensure that adequate staffing is available.
  • Prepare the Leisure Centre rota to ensure that staffing levels meet critical business needs.
  • Ensure that the Leisure Centre is operated safely and hygienically with a focus on quality customer service. 
  • Set and monitor quality standards for your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are in place and up-to-date in the Leisure Centre.   
  • Maintain constant surveillance of customers in the pool area and acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of guests in the event of emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Provide membership pricing for all customers and staff members.
  • Embed a cost-conscious culture in the Leisure Centre by developing, reviewing and reporting on KPIs in your area of responsibility.
  • Take responsibility for the Leisure Centre’s procedures and the training of relevant employees in accordance with same.  
  • Audit all Leisure Centre practices on a regular basis ensuring that the relevant procedure is being adhered to at all times.   
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with existing customers and long standing relationships.
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with external stakeholders to best understand industry trends and to promote Gallen Hospitality.  
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Leisure Centre staff create a positive image and reputation of Gallen Hospitality when engaging with customers.
  • Investigate complaints regarding the Leisure Centre service and equipment and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure that the proper maintenance of all equipment is adhered to in line with the recommended standard and make arrangements for repair or replacement of used and damaged equipment. 
  • Ensure only approved cleaning materials and equipment is used by all staff.
  • Provide reports to the Senior Management Team on staff performance on a monthly basis and other ad hoc reports as required.  
  • Responsible for the designing and promotion of entertainment materials for the Leisure Centre in line with the relevant standard operating procedures.  
  • Take responsibility for the sales and marketing of the Leisure Centre ensuring that membership and events revenue is maximised at all times.  
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Leisure Centre operations are in accordance with the prevailing statutory regulations, particularly in relation to employment law, hygiene and health and safety.  
  • Procure all necessary supplies in a timely manner to ensure that the correct inventory is available to enable the Leisure Centre to operate effectively.
