Sales Manager

SustainIQ is a ‘tech for good’ business that supports companies to measure, monitor and report on their sustainability and ESG performance. We’re looking for an experienced, proven, and driven Sales Manager with experience in the tech sector and ideally a strong understanding of sustainability. A salary of £40k - £50k + commission + bonus + the opportunity for equity within 24 months will be on offer for the successful candidate.

About the role

Working closely within a small, collaborative team, the role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially driven sales professional to join us during an exciting growth phase. We’re already working with some leading companies in the UK & Ireland, and our new Sales Manager will help to grow that client base to scale. You’ll be focused on developing new business opportunities, performing online demonstrations, presenting to clients, and ultimately closing deals that make a positive difference – to the client, to SustainIQ and to the planet.

As the role develops, the Sales Manager will also be responsible for growing the sales function of the business, and will work alongside the co-founders to set out the long-term commercial strategy for SustainIQ.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely alongside the co-founders to help determine strategic commercial objectives 
  • Identify new areas of growth and a strategy to address these opportunities 
  • Maintain and expand a database of prospects throughout the UK, Ireland, and internationally 
  • Build relationships with both new and existing customers
  • Self-generate leads, present for new business, and close sales
  • Build your own and the company’s profile in key target markets and verticals 
  • Attend relevant events and exhibitions to build new networks of contacts and new business opportunities
  • Understand the challenges facing key stakeholders and how SustainIQ can address these issues
  • Establish a strong pipeline and manage prospects efficiently and effectively, ensuring that all business opportunities are seized and converted 
  • Develop and expand the sales function of the business

Reserve Lists

We use reserve lists for positions where more than one candidate is deemed suitable for a position. Reserve lists are in place for 12 months during which reserve candidates will be offered the same or similar post should one become available during this time.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years’ operating in a senior sales role within the tech market
  • Proven experience in making engaging and successful online product demonstrations
  • Experience in selling to a range of key stakeholders within an organisation
  • Proven ability to own the sales process from lead generation to closing of sale
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience working with a smaller company and helping build a brand
  • Excellent organisational skills and expertise in utilising a CRM
  • Sharp, effective research skills
  • Customer-focused, value-driven sales technique

Desired criteria

  • Knowledge of Sustainability, ESG and Corporate Responsibility across a range of sectors
  • Ability to work on longer-term projects while maintaining consistent sales targets
  • Experience working with a range of marketing campaigns, influencing content that will help fill the pipeline
