Job Title: Data Analyst Placement (12 month fixed term placement) Division: Business Improvement 

Reports To: Data Manager  Location: Tobermore

Placement Summary: You will be working in the Business Improvement (Data & Analytics) team alongside the Database Administrators and Power BI Developer, reporting to the Data Manager, to assist with designing a suite of reports for use throughout the business. This will primarily involve the creation and maintenance of bespoke Power BI reports & dashboards to provide visibility of key business trends and to reliably forecast results. You will provide insights and analysis of this data to assist decision making at all levels of the business.

About the role

• Using Power BI to create data models, connecting to data from 
multiple sources for the generation of business reports.
• Create, manage & maintain a suite of internal Power BI reports & 
dashboards for all departments of the business.
• Provide insights and analysis to allow Senior Management to make informed business decisions.
• Review & Validate data to ensure of integrity of collection and utilisation 
• Analyse current business processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes with technology solutions
• Identify development needs in order to improve and streamline operations 
• Assist the team leader to develop policies for collection & analysis of data
• Working alongside the team lead to identify reporting requirements/
gaps for all departments based on the data available.
• Working with the Database Administrators to create and manage robust, long 
term solutions for the recording & reporting of business critical data. 
• Create and maintain documentation including requirements, design and user manuals
• Providing training to new & current staff on the use of Power BI
• To participate as a member of the team, sharing good practice and 
knowledge, resolving common issues and ensuring consistency.
• Manage licensing & security for Power BI users
• Comply with GDPR legislation
• Carry out tasks as required and deemed within your competence by your manager.

What you will need

Required criteria

  • • 5 GCSE’s to include Maths, English & IT.
  • • Working towards a Third level qualification in a business or IT related discipline.
  • • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • • Familiarity with other Microsoft systems
  • • Able to demonstrate strong numerical & analytical skills
  • • Excellent Data Modelling skills
  • • Excellent Problem solving skills
  • • Critical thinking
  • • Database management & reporting skills
  • • High attention to detail, very well organised and time management skills.
  • • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • • Great Interpersonal skills

Desired criteria

  • • A Level Qualification in related discipline.
  • • Data Analysis or related Qualification.
  • • Awareness of the construction industry.
  • • Experience using Power BI, DAX and Power Query (M) to analyse and visualise data.
  • • Previous working experience in a similar role
  • • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies
  • • Full and clean driving license
