About Us
OpenData Belfast (ODB), a two-year start-up within Belfast servicing the Data Science needs of the US insurance market, the team is responsible for building ground-breaking products for the North American Insurance market. We have been assisting our parent company this year to break through the $1 billion per year barrier application of data science and analysis.
We are moving to the third age of ODB and building an InsurTech platform to enable the best digital customer experience within the North American insurance marketplace and further accelerate the success of our parent company.
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer to join our team to help build an innovative platform. You will have the opportunity to enter a green field environment and put your mark on creating solutions that are:

The Guidewire PolicyCenter Developer’s primary responsibility is to enhance, manage, and support our core Property insurance applications. This position will support the system modernisation, including configuration and integration of the Guidewire systems, and will continuously evaluate current and emerging strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare technical design specifications based on functional requirements.
Design, and implement complete solutions within Guidewire PolicyCenter.
Provide architectural design recommendations and effectively present solution options for implementations with estimates.
Configure components including but not limited to Product Model, Rating, Rules, Form Patterns, UW issues, Batch Process, and Message Queue.
Enhance Guidewire Suite integrations and implement integrations between PolicyCenter and third-party vendors.
Follow company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs.
Actively promotes and utilises development standards, Guidewire best practices, and proposes solutions to improve team productivity and/or business results.
Actively participates in professional development, i.e., continuing education or self-improvement.
Other duties as assigned by leadership, either verbally or in writing.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
7+ years of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter 9+.
In-depth knowledge of:
Guidewire PolicyCenter.
Java 8+.
SOAP/REST Web Services.
General knowledge of:
Database normalization concepts.
Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) tools and related utilities.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities, analytical reasoning, logical problem solving, strong attention to detail, and establishing priorities.
Demonstrated excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Guidewire Professional Certification preferred.
Knowledge of Property Insurance domain preferred.

- 5+ years of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter 9+.
- In-depth knowledge of: Guidewire PolicyCenter - Java 8+ - SOAP/REST Web Services.
- General knowledge of: Database normalization concepts - Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) tools and related utilities.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities, analytical reasoning, logical problem solving, strong attention to detail, and establishing priorities.
- Demonstrated excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desired criteria
- Guidewire Professional Certification preferred.
