Main Purpose of Job
Specialising in auto electrics within a busy engineering environment. You will have responsibility for the design and installation of wiring looms for a range of vehicles including minibuses, taxi and bespoke vehicle conversions.
About the role
Role Responsibilities
Receives the vehicle and carry out work as instructed;
Carry out bespoke vehicle conversions to include a range of auto-electric tasks which may include:
Aux lighting and light bars;
Mobile communication devices, security and navigation systems;
Electric windows, mirrors and heated seats;
Parking sensors and reversing cameras;
Tow bar electrics including smart box;
12/24V inverter systems;
After-market cruise control and speed limiter kits;
Contributes to departmental and compliance of Company policies and guidelines;
Design, read and follow wiring diagrams;
Diagnose and repair electrical faults;
Update and report any major vehicle damages /faults / issues / concerns to the Production Manager;
Work with various brands of vehicle diagnostic equipment;
Safeguard and protect all vehicles during work processes ;
Work with due care and attention not to cause any damage to the vehicle or components;
Responsibility for good housekeeping in the workshop and work areas;
Completes all required administration and paperwork required to reflect any work carried out;
Ensure that all hours and materials are recorded and used correctly;
Ensures the correct use of all plant, tools and machinery belonging to the Company;
Minimises wastage of all work materials;
Complies with all Health and Safety legislation to ensure safety and well being of self, colleagues, customers and visitors;
When works has been completed, check and verify that all work has been correctly completed and to customer satisfaction;
Liaise with Production Manager on work progress and alert of any work which is unlikely to be completed by the required time;
Drive and Park the vehicles appropriately around the site when work is completed;
Take responsibility for your actions and decisions;
Follow safe working practices;
Complies with all Health and Safety legislation to ensure safety and well being of self, colleagues, customers and visitors;
Complies with all Company systems, processes and procedures;
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to pay attention to detail through a logical work approach;
Work independently in a busy, active environment with little supervision and direction;
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Computer literate;
Self-motivated, possessing drive and ambition to achieve good results;
Ability to be, pro-active and enthusiastic;
Learn continually about product and technical information;
Ability to deal with demanding physical work;
Ability to drive within DVA regulations and taking extra precautions with vehicles at all times;
Full Drivers Licence is mandatory for the role
Ability to use the most appropriate tools and machinery applicable to work carried out.
Hold a relevant TRACKER qualification;
Hold a relevant VSIB qualification;
Hold a relevant Electrical / Mechanical Engineering qualification.
