We have a new opportunity for an Assistant Facilities Manager to join our team at the Port of Tilbury.
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week, Monday - Friday). We do also offer hybrid working.

About the role
Under the direction of the Facilities & Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of Planned Prevention Maintenance (PPM) programmes. You will maintain a wide range of built environment and workplace infrastructure across the port estate, as well as organising and maintaining accurate maintenance records to ensure legislative compliance, and ensure that important tasks are completed within required timescales.
Key Responsibilities
Support the management of circa 70 contracts covering facilities services with a value of over £1 million per annum. Service categories include: Air conditioning, Fire Systems, Asbestos Management, General Building Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Legionella Control, Pest Control, Cleaning, road sweeping and gully maintenance and Security Systems.
Services are delivered across a site covering circa 875 acres with approximately 125 buildings and warehouses
Maintain leave, sickness and overtime records for 12 department colleagues
Development of internal and external customer relationships, building trust through the delivery of high quality services that add value to our customers
Communication with Asset Managers on new projects and initiatives, ensuring that their requirements are achieved by planning and implementing cost effective solutions
Management and co-ordination of the Helpdesk and reactive maintenance activities that are required to be carried out, doing so in a safe and timely manner with minimal disruption to the business
Participation in emergency call our procedures with occasional requirement to attend out of hours for essential maintenance
Monthly reporting, benchmarking and auditing of contractors and service providers, recommending maintenance strategies and implementing approved work. Identifying Facilities Management opportunities and implementing best practise.
What are we looking for?
At least 1 year experience in a facilities or estate management services role
Ideally working towards a membership of a professional body, or be willing to begin this - (such as IWFM)
Good knowledge of current legislation relevant to Facilities Management such as Asbestos Management, Legionella Control, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
Preferably hold a certificate of competency ideally from IOSH for the Management of Health & Safety in the workplace
An understanding of the Construction Design and Management Regulations would be advantageous
Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management (CMM) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems
Strong communication skills and practical knowledge of MS office suite
A full UK drivers license is essential due to travel across our port
